About Whitehills

Whitehills Cottage.

The village of Whitehills is located on the Moray Firth coastline in Aberdeenshire. A former fishing village, the marina today is instead packed with yachts and pleasure boats.

The surrounding area is famed for castles, whisky distilleries and golf courses, and there are attractive walks and cycle routes from the village along the Moray Firth coast towards Banff to the east and Portsoy to the west. Dolphins swim the nearby sea frequently, and the northern lights can often be seen during the winter months.

Close to Whitehills lies Boyndie, once home to RAF Banff Strike Wing, which played a pivotal role in protecting the area during World War II. The airfield closed in 1946, but it is still possible to walk around the area, including around the community developed Boyndie Wind Turbines.
